TAIT, Harry H
7th Durham Light Infantry
Harry was the son of William Henry & Maria Tait of Middle Lodge, Raby Park, Staindrop. In 1911 he lived in Swan Street with his mother, who was a dressmaker & a charwoman in a bothy.

The Staindrop Parish Magazine in September 1918 reported that he had been wounded and gassed.
At 15 Harry was an apprentice blacksmith. He joined the 7th Durham Light Infantry in June 1916 & served in France where he was wounded. Harry was a Prisoner of War when he died on 24th July, 1918 aged 21. He is buried in St. Erme Communal Cemetery Extension.
