Son of Richard Bell and Sarah, née Robinson who married on 11 June 1881 in Eggleston. Brother of Margaret Ann Robinson (1879), George Thompson (1881), William Benders (1883), Florence Jane (1885), Lilly May (1886), Richard Maurice (1890) and Sarah Jane (1892).  Harry married Ellen Elizabeth Wooton, who died in 1983. The couple had a daughter called Winifred.

Harry attended Lintz Colliery Company's School, Infants.


He emigrated on 31 March 1911 from Liverpool aboard the Virginian accompanied by his brother George. They arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on 7 April 1911. Harry's intention was to farm in Saskatchewan.  


Harry died in 1960 of  Hemorrhagic Edema of Lungs, Acute Heart Failure and Arteriosclerotic Heart Disease.
