Notes:
Attended Barnard Castle School from 1910.
After war service, in 1919 became teacher at Cockfield Church of England Junior Mixed School. In 1920 he joined the teaching staff of Barnard Castle School where he spent the rest of his teaching life, retiring in 1958.
In 1970 he published 'John Bowes and The Bowes Museum'.
