'Private Christopher Atkinson, son of Mr and Mrs W Atkinson, Lendings, formerly a compositor in The Teesdale Mercury office left Barnard Castle on Monday night, where he has been on a few days leave of absence preparatory to leaving on foreign service.  He is attached to the (Second) 6th Battalion of Durham Light Infantry.'

Private T. Blackett, of this town, is with him, and both are in the 6th Battalion Durham Light Infantry.
