'Lieutenant Roy H. Helmer, of the signaller? Staff was present at the Barnard Castle Police Court, on Wednesday, having a homely   ?   with members of the bar.  He arrived into Bramshot Common, Hampshire and will join the Overseas’ Expeditionary Force at  once.'

'Lieutenant Roy H. Helmer is at the base, and Second-Lieutenant Bleaden, of the 17th Battalion Durham Light Infantry, nephew of the Rector of Romaldkirk, has joined the overseas’ expedition force.  Ten officers of this regiment have gone abroad.'
